Thyroid concerns.
Hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's, Grave's disease, and the subclinical shifts that standard panels often miss.
Looking at the full picture.
Thyroid concerns range from frank hypothyroidism to the subtle patterns that don't quite meet the diagnostic threshold but produce real symptoms. Fatigue, weight gain, hair thinning, cold intolerance, brain fog, low mood, and slow digestion all point here.
Routine thyroid screening often begins with TSH. We run a comprehensive panel that includes additional thyroid hormones and antibodies, so we can see the full picture and catch autoimmune patterns earlier.
How patients describe it.
- Fatigue that doesn't improve with rest
- Weight gain or trouble losing weight
- Hair thinning, dry skin, brittle nails
- Feeling cold when others are comfortable
- Brain fog or slower thinking
- Constipation or slowed digestion
Most thyroid concerns get diagnosed late or labeled normal. A full panel and a careful read change the picture. Dr. Abbie Siudzinski, ND
How we work through it.
Comprehensive thyroid testing first. We need to see the whole panel, not just TSH.
If antibodies are present (Hashimoto's), the plan addresses both the thyroid and the immune patterns driving it. Diet, gut health, stress physiology, and nutrient status all factor in.
For subclinical or low-functioning thyroid without antibodies, we look at iodine, selenium, ferritin, vitamin D, and the cortisol picture. Often the thyroid itself is fine and the issue is upstream.
Tests we typically use here.
The specific panels depend on your situation. These are the most common ones for thyroid concerns.
